Yes it could be a zencart issue but more likely it is a server issue, which Kobra is saying they are unwilling to help you with and I am not qualified to help you with :)
There are probably other factors as well ie:
How are you connecting to the server? (locally, via internet)

I've seen the intermittent slow loading while connecting to the internet from two locations: (1) at home, via Comcast cable--other sites loaded fine at that time, but not my Zen Cart site, and (2) at work, via UC Berkeley's connection to the net--again, other sites loaded fine at that time, but not my Zen Cart site.
My friend hasn't seen the slow loading when she looks at the site on the server, and she doesn't see anything in her error logs.
I feel like I'm just bothering you guys, and I'm willing to go with the "it's probably the server" answer. If she and I ever determine for sure that the server is the problem and we come up with a fix, I'll return and post an update.
