Purchase Generates a New Password

My question is about using Zen Cart in a specific manner for the purchasing of online time slots.

I develop tutorials and when a customer purchases access, I want them to receive a randomly generated password and access ID. This would allow them access to a part of a website, or directory etc.

Functionally, you would take this login data and have access to a specific tutorial for, say 1 month or whatever.

Can Zen cart do this, or would this have to be another system that produces it? If so, what data can Zen Cart provide to this other content system?

I have seen things like paypal sending a confirmation of payment to a website which then grants access...

What I was thinking of was in relation to things I have purchased online before. Where I have paid, and once the transaction had gone thru, I was able to access a part of the site to download something etc.

I just was trying to figure out how to begin to set this up. I wanted to use Zen cart because my brother has used it for a long time and it works great for him. But we are stumped on this.

Kobra thanks a lot! I was having a hard time finding the right direction to look in. This is what I needed to get started.

The Download by Redirect ... when set to True option seems to be okay. I am assuming that I could point them to a webpage with embedded media file instead...? I noticed that the stub expires after they "download," or what would be in my case playing a file.

Is there a way to set a timelimit on expiration? Like say allow access by a specific customer to a url for a month?

The only other part of this that I couldn't find an answer to in the documentation was virtual products. I am not sure if this is looking in the right place for my solution tho'.

Look in your admin's Configuration->Attribute Settings. From there, you can specify the number of days a download is valid and how many times the customer can access it. In your case, it sounds like you'd want to specify 30 days and unlimited downloads.
