Unique SKU, possible solution

Hi everybody,
I have been looking for a solution for this with SKU and have seen that the questions has been raised here in the forum several times.
Is there any solution at all for this?
For example if you has attributes on a product - is it possible to make a function so that it automatically gets a unique ID like Model+1,2,3 and so on?
Or maybe modding the contribution Stocl by attributes so that you not only can write a stock for each attribute but also this little ID?
It would be great to have SKU on attributes.

Thanks for the tip, but SKU results in no hits and UPC im not sure of. Would that do the trick?

Can you insert unique ISBN / UPC also on product attributes?

The current version of Zencart doesn't support separate model numbers for attributes, nor is there a mod to do so.

One workaround I've used is to include the number in the option name.
