Add to cart not working

Hi,
I got with a strange issue now,

The add to cart is not working in my site,
the button is visible, but after clicking its showing like "Your Shopping Cart is empty."
its not going to the cart page.

I cant even go to the shopping cart by typing in the url.

i looked admin -> config -> my store -> store status .. its showing 0.

what hapnd here?
what all are the other options to make shopping cart not accessible / working.

Please help me to get away from this mess...

There seem to be several possible causes. Try searching the forums for "your shopping cart is empty" (including the quotes) for a number of threads.
