Where do I go in the Admin to remove 'New Products' from the left column and on the Category pages?

You need to turn off the What's New sidebox in the Tools ... Layout Boxes Controller ...
Then, in the Configuration ... Index Listing ... turn off the New Products Centerbox by setting each one to: 0 for OFF ...
NOTE: there is also a setting in the Configuration ... Stock ... for the empty shopping cart page ...Linda McGrath
