    Default Email setup

    Hello everyone,
I am having some problems setting up my email. I am currently using v1.3.9f.
My hosting is godaddy, and my email is setup thru google apps.
I have tried the PHP, but it does not work. Then I tried SMTP and set up like I would with my outlook. That did not work either. I am getting the following error

Email Error: Could not instantiate mail function. Please check Admin->Configuration->Email Options->Email Transport.

I have given up... I am not sure what else to do.

    Thanks in advance

    Drago

I'm stuck trying to do the same thing. Except I am using smtpauth because Google Apps probably requires authentication to send an email through the server.

    SMTP Account: [email protected]
    SMTP Password: mypassword
    SMTP Email Host: ASPMX.L.GOOGLE.com
    SMTP Port: 465

I spoke with GoDaddy CS and they said that we have to have a dedicated server in order to do this. My guess is they have outgoing port 465 blocked.

You'll always have less problems if you DUMP GoDaddy and get a reliable hosting service.
