Editor Corruption?

Im not real sure how to describe this problem, so I will have to give a working demo.....
I have just done 3 fantastico installs and a complete manual install and get the same problem ie...

Out of the box standard install, with demo products.
In ADMIN I click on Tools / Define pages editor.
I select define_main_page.php and the SAVE it without making any changes.

Then.. on the front page, under WELCOME GUEST, I see the HTML code, not the desired fonts etc.

Many thanks... especially for your time here helping people.

Maybe Ill ask sooner next time rather than spend 6 hours on a problem I will never be able to fix....
... then again ... nothing is learned that way
