help with prices please

Hi there I have followed this section :

The per-weight shipping module can be used for this.

1. Turn on the Per-Unit (perweightunit) shipping module in Admin->Modules->Shipping

2. Now manually edit *each* product and enter the shipping cost as the product "weight".
This module uses the product-weight as the shipping rate for this product ... ie: it is no longer the weight -- it is only the shipping cost.

3. Turn off weight display everywhere, since it is no longer meaningful.
a) Admin->Catalog->Product Types->[select your product type]->Edit Layout->Show weight->false
b) Admin->Configuration->Shipping/Packaging->Display Number of Boxes and Weight Status
c) Admin->Configuration->index listing / all listing / new listing / featured listing ... turn off the weight on these .


done all of the above but when I put the price £1.00 in where the weight goes then update the price as gone and nothing happens when I do a purchase.

Can anyone tell me wher I am going wrong please.

Are you entering for the Product Weight:
1.00
£1.00

Be sure you are entering:
1.00

as the currency symbol will make that amount: 0.00

yes I am simply putting 1.00 did try it also with the £ symbol.
when I go to the cart and go to check out it has not included the shipping costs.
I am using the latest version.

If you go to the Modules ... Shipping ... what are your settings in the right panel if you click on Per Unit perweightunit shipping module ...

What are your settings in the Configuration ... Shipping Packaging ...

Sorry I dont know if this makes a difference what I have done is turned all the weights to 0 then trying to add a shipping cost to each product.

Does this cause a problem or not really.

When you go to the Modules ... Shipping ... and click on the Per Unit perweightunit shipping module ... do you see a blue right hand panel that shows the detail settings on this shipping module?

It would be similar to this:

If you then go to the Configuration ... Shipping/Packaging ... what settings do you have?

You appear to have Item Rate item installed ... are you using Item Rate? If not, click on it and click REMOVE ...

On using the Per Unit perweightunit shipping module, you do need to have a Product Weight (product_weight) added to each Product as that is what is used as the Shipping Cost for the Product ...

If you set the Product Weight to 1.25 then the shipping cost is $1.25 x quantity for this Product ...

The total weight is then multiplied by the Shipping Cost per Unit in the Per Unit perweightunit shipping module ... by default this is set to 1 for $1.00 ... so that if the total weight of the cart is 3.75 then the shipping would be $3.75 ...

thanks for your help,but it seems an awfully complicated way to get individual prices per product.

I have just gone for free shipping and putting the cost on the product, however when adding a product to the cart it is displaying this : Total Items: 1 Weight: 0lbs Amount: £6.21

how do i stop this being displayed please.
