How to set up shipping for New Zealand? - help please!

Hi, based on our shipping costs we would like to set up different rates for each of the following:

New Zealand North Island
New Zealand South Island
International

Also, for New Zealand, we want to have a surcharge for Rural Delivery.

What is the correct way of setting this up? I assume the zones module, but don't know how to do it.

I had this problem quite awhile ago - what I did was used this mode "ZipShip"

I then used the post codes from NZ Post & set up 5-6 Zones (I think it was that) like this

Zone 1 - Local Auckland codes
Zone 2 - Local Auckland Rural codes
Zone 3 - Waikato codes
Zone 4 - Waikato Rural codes
etc...

Then set the charges for each zone. I know it seems a very long winded way to do it - but the only way I could get it to work

Hi, thanks for your response. I am surprised that you would need to install an extra module for something that should be straight-forward like this???

I've been reading what I can find on the subject, apparently countries are grouped into 'Zones Definitions', and areas within countries are 'Zones' .... a confusing terminology if you ask me.

If anyone out there knows how to set up various flat rate shipping rates based on different zones within a country, using the built in functions, would they please sing out???
