Removing unused CSS script and links

Our website gotten to be really slow after we cleaned up some crazy askoribbork.iscottish com:8080/OASIS.js scripts in many of our files.

I ran speed tests on webpagetest.org which pointed to:

/includes/templates/classic/css/ddlevelsmenu-sidebar.css
/includes/templates/classic/css/ddlevelsmenu-base.css
/includes/templates/classic/css/ddlevelsmenu.js
/includes/templates/classic/css/images/item-secondary-container-bg.jpg
/includes/templates/classic/css/images/item-primary-bg.gif
/includes/templates/classic/css/images/item-secondary-bg.jpg

also its still looking for some old images for product that was removed, but is still trying to load thumbnails for :

/images/bodyred.jpg
/images/semitruck.jpg

One of the images that was erred out was some tile_back.gif image that I simply re-uploaded just so it does not error out.


All this, is slowing down the site to a crawl (30-90 sec loads), and also the admin site is slow as well.

I have tried removing some scripts that ask for this CSS but without much success. Some of these testing sites show up to 6 unused style sheet errors.

can anyone explain it the most basic way on how to get rid of unused style sheets?

Please, keep in mind that I am not a programmer, but I do follow direction well, and I can copy and paste like nobody's business
We are using version Zen Cart 1.3.8a and Gzip is set to 1.

all of the security updates related to this version have been done.

Right - first and most important your images are the primary cause for slowing your site down. Basically your site is loading big images (which takes a long time) then compressing them.
