Text-only email confirmation not adjusting

My almost-ready store is set to send Text emails and that's also the default for a customer's choice. Problem is, I was tinkering with email_template_checkout.html and then the email section of order.php, and don't see my changes in the text version of the email confirmation when I do test orders.

I closed the email program, restarted it and ordered again, ordered from two different browsers....still getting the default. And, yes, I double-checked that I uploaded saved files to the right folder. What am I overlooking?

The .html template files are for html emails only.
If you're changing text-only emails, then you need to update the appropriate files under /includes/languages/

Thanks, I see some files that control the text, namely checkout_process.php, but which file controls the layout/output? I wish to remove the display of the Billing Address and add something else.

Huh? Peculiar. You'll have to completely hack up the send_order_email() method of order.php class file. You'll have challenges upgrading, since there is no override for that file.

Then I won't bother. I figured there was a simple way to tinker with it just like the html version. As for the Billing info, it's not wise to send that via email and I wanted to emulate those companies that don't send it in their confirmations.
