options in attributes controller suddenly missing?

I'm using version 1.3.8a and I am trying to add some options to products using the attributes controller. I have done this successfully for dozens of products and am familiar with the various menus, but after adding some new products and new option names, the attributes controller now shows NO OPTIONS to insert? I've taken screen shots of my attributes controller showing no options and the options name and options value pages showing that I have many many option names and values entered. I am able to copy option names and values from other products, but the new products have new names and values that have not been used yet.

Any help would be very much appreciated!

Go to the Catalog ... Option Name Manager ... what do you see?

Go to the Catalog ... Option Value Manager ... what do you see?

Go to the Attributes Controller for the Product in your screen shot ...

Carefully ...

1 Click Edit on one of the Attributes that you have

What do you see?

2 Click Cancel ... so as not to change anything

Are you using any Add Ons for the Attributes?

What are some examples of the New Option Names that you added?

What are some examples of the New Option Value Names that you added?

As for what do I see for the attributes controller, option name and option value managers, they are all on the screenshots I posted here: http://www.paperflowerdesign.com/zencarthelp.html
As you can see, under the option manager and option value manager, all of my options appear (both old and new). But under the attributes controller, neither the old nor new options are listed. Only a cryptic "option name" and "option value"

When I click edit for the option on the product I have showing, it properly displays the two values I have for that option ("electronic proof"). I was able to copy this one over from another product (I copied all attributes of one product over to this new product and deleted inapplicable options).

Examples of new option names: notecard color
Option names: cream, white

So far I cannot reproduce this ...

Are you using any add ons for the Attributes Controller?

Have you changed/added anything recently to your site since you last used this and it was working correctly?

No, I am not using any add ons for attributes.

It was working correctly within an hour or so of when it stopped working. I had added a bunch of other new products with new option names and values and had no trouble. The trouble started after I created a new product category ("stationery") (although I had created another product category for the other products without problem) and I tried to add the attributes to those products. I thought it might have something to do with the new category, but none of the options appear for products in other categories either.

Same result. Only bizarre "Option Name" "Option Value" listed in options to add... do you know how the option names/values are linked to the attributes controller page?

I am afraid from all that you are telling us that nothing points to what the problem is ...

I would recommend checking the files on the server to see if any have changed and browsing the database to see if anything has changed ...

If you are unsure how to go about doing this, you may wish to post in the Commercial Help wanted for someone who is familiar with doing this type of thing ...

I haven't received any responses in commercial help, so if anyone has any suggestions or theories regarding how the option names/values are linked to the attributes controller, I'd really appreciate it!!

danielle- i'm not sure what was wrong but someone else did a fresh install of the admin files, and the problem was fixed!

Yes, it was the attributes_controller.php file. Did you have the Improved Attributes Controller mod installed? My client did, and it looks like it stopped working for some reason. I had to upload the original 1.3.8a attributes_controller.php file and now it's working again!

I am facing almost same problem...
when anyone is going to add a product with the attributes selected some attributes option name are not coming in the shopping cart and this is impacting also in order email.
Example:

I see these are old posts, but I have a client again... the exact same issue. I originally built this site ages ago - 1.38a and she has literally hundreds of attributes - so the improved controller is a necessity.

I put back, just to test, the original file and the options and values reappear, but of course no longer sorted.

I went back and down loaded the latest version of the controller which states still 1.3x compliant and it doesn't work either... It's the strangest thing. One day.. it just stopped working. I'm unaware (of course I've asked) of any changes she might have made or additions I'm unaware of, but so far I'm told no changes.

It's a huge site and due to economic reasons she's not prepared to upgrade at this time, so I really need to find a fix for it. If you refer back to the original post and screen shot - it's literally identical to what I'm seeing.

As you asked the original poster - you can click on edit and the values are all there and you could make changes. You just can't add any new attributes unless you do a copy from an existing product.

I didn't see anyone post back that they fixed this other than putting back the original controller, and that really isn't an option. I need the Improved controller to work again. Any suggestions or fixes would be really appreciated

I found a solution. Just for the heck of it, I grabbed the controller for 1.39h and dropped it in and voilla! All is working again. I pulled it out and did a file compare and I noted some updated coding but nothing that should have broken the 1.38a version, so I thought... what the heck and as I said... issue solved. That file will work and as it is the improved controller that was updated in 1.39 - it for awhile puts off her need to upgrade.

Hopefully anyone else that might run into this will find this solution helpful.
