    Default 1.3.9g to 1.3.9h

Hi can someone please help we with the update from g to h.

I uploaded G for the first time a couple of weeks ago as a new install before the H update came out and G is still in the “Maintenance Mode” as we are update productions, etc etc. (Lets call this shop 1)

Have now uploaded the new H into a new demo folder with a new database demo also, and is working fine. (Lets call this shop 2)

As I have not had the site live yet or added any shipping bits and bobs, was just hoping to update the very few bits I have changed without having to look at what files are different.

Have a few questions please, if someone can help please?
Can I add my custom templates to shop 2 and also change the datebase to use the shop 1 datebase, so I can fully test and also be able to add products still into my shop 1 at the same time?
Once site 2 is looking and working like shop 1, can I easily move from my Demo folder to the route folder to replace shop 1.
Also, not seen anything about changing the permissions with the H update, do I have to changed the files as I did with the first G install.

Really would like some help if anybody can?

    Many thanks in advance.

That is a lot of work for what should be a simple procedure. Just look in the docs folder of your 1.39h release and open changelog-v1-3-9h.html. Here you'll find the files you should change.

As per the documentation (see the 1.3.9h docs in the /docs/ folder), to go from G to H you simply need to replace a handful of files. If you haven't edited those files in some way it's a simple replace. If you've altered them, then simply combine your changes into the new version.
It's just a handful of files. It'll take 5-10 minutes.

    Hi Guy,

Well uploaded the files ok, site works ok, but admin is not. When trying to load the admin page, just get a blank screen. Have checked the error log and is the following:-

[05-Nov-2010 14:38:48] PHP Fatal error: Cannot redeclare class cache in /home/precious/public_html/includes/classes/cache.php on line 215

    Anybody know what this is?

    Many thanks

Seems like maybe you've got the non-admin version of /admin/includes/auto_loaders/config.core.php on your server?
Either that or you've got an extra copy of the cache.php file in one of the admin folders, where it doesn't belong.

    Hi DrByte,

thanks for the reply, really not sure what should be there or not. Only thing I can do is take the whole lot down and upload a back-up I have and try again, unless you want to have a look at the folders?

    thanks again

So ... you just uploaded a handful of new files, following a list of files to replace, right?
I'm guessing you picked the WRONG original files to upload ... ie: you uploaded non-admin files to the admin area. (remember, the non-admin area uses many files named the same as the admin area uses, but their contents are very different in most cases ... mixing them up will give you problems such as you're reporting).

So, the list of files where your problem may exist is slim. Start with the config.core file I mentioned.

Failing that, I'd say you need to use a more broad brush to figure out what you did wrong. In that case I would simply compare the files you've got on your server against the clean set of original files from the version you're trying to upgrade to. An approach similar to this: http://www.zen-cart.com/wiki/index.p...Obscure_Issues . In short: download a complete copy of your site files to your PC, compare those files against the clean set of original Zen Cart files using something like WinMerge, and thus quickly identify wrong file content or extraneous files.

    Hi DrByte,

I don't know what to say, many many thanks.

Just changed the config.core file you mentioned first and guess what it worked. Saved at lot more work. Guess the rest of the site will be ok, will have a play later.

Can't thank you enough, many many thanks for your time again.
