Default Can't upload an image of the same name

    Version 1.3.9f
    Site is new install.
    No addons except for images.

First issue.... when a user forgets his password and the question is "Please Enter the Registration Passphrase on the previous page." there is no previous page or registration passphrase and drove me NUTS trying to find. Finally found it and it didn't work (yes read the faqs)

Second the fifth word in the sentance "Enter the fifth word of this sentance." Is the word "of" and did not work.

OK.. now my problem. I have 2 carts for different purposes and both have the same bug.
If I have an image uploaded called 1.JPG for the product and then update the image locally it will not take when re-uploading the image of the same name.

Even if I have the check on Overwrite Existing Image on Server? to YES it does not update the image.

The CART->IMAGE directory was changed to 777 permissions and still nothing. I deleted the images manually from CART-> IMAGES and still nothing.

I uploaded the cart and did a local search for the images and found nothing in any other directory so I assume the images are being held on the SQL server.
So the question is... how on earth can I update the images without renaming them?

Thanks so much for your help.
    Regards.

For anyone else having the same issue. New images will not take immediately.

My solution was to remove all images log out of ZenCART. Wait about 15 minuits, re-log in and upload the images and everything worked fine. For whatever reason if I uploaded an image with the same filename, even though the files were different, it would not update the images. I thought it may have been my internet cache but that was cleared several times with no results so it has to be something SQL server wise holding ZenCART back from updating the images immediately.

Does anybody know how to resolve this issue? It drove me mad for about 2 hours.

ROFL! Zen Cart doesn't force you to "wait 15 minutes". Nor does it store images in "SQL Server".

The images are physical files. There are only two reasons why you wouldn't see the images immediately:
    a) your browser is caching them or you have some sort of proxy system between your browser and your webserver that's caching them
    b) your upload failed, either because it timed out, had insufficient permissions, you put the files in the wrong folder, etc

Zen Cart doesn't "hold back from updating the images immediately". Period.

    a) I have no proxy system all I have is my personal computer so nothing is cached between here and my provider.

b)Uploads at the top of the screen have always said "successfull"

I tried to update a single background image on my site and the image failed to change so you are correct it must be a proxy at the host side.

BTW, This matter is something that really busted my balls. I know how much you have helped others around here and personally I went from having 110% respect for you for your assistance to 0%. Next time you laugh at someone that needs help or suggestions you may want to think about how others view you. The only thing lost here is my respect for you.

Wow ... sorry! I meant no disrespect!
It certainly struck me as odd, since from a technical perspective there's nothing at all in Zen Cart that could possibly produce the symptoms you reported. I laughed because the scenario struck me as so utterly impossible. It was a laugh at the circumstance, not the person posting. Apologies for not wording it more succinctly.

I was compelled to respond simply because you made sweeping statements about Zen Cart functionality which simply are not correct. And, since others will view your post later when looking for solutions to possibly similar symptoms, it would be wrong to have them believe that the problem is with Zen Cart itself instead of where it really lies. Hence I followed with possible suggestions.

One other suggestion would be an image manager addon which caches images, such as the IH2 contribution.

Apologies for coming off as rude or insensitive. Never meant it that way!

Oh... please don't take it that way WEAPONX.

Cheer up WEAPONX I'm pretty darn sure Dr. Byte didn't laugh at you, I think he was laughing at the "15 minutes" statement.

Something seems to be lagging. Could it be your host? Are you sure you upload into the right location? What methods you take to reproduce this error? Have you experienced this in another server?

I recall similar thing happened to me when I changed the image dimension from backend and took a few seconds (and a few clicks) for it to take effect. It could be on the host's lag.. I dunno...

If this is not the case, I apologize for digressing the thread. I just wanted to toss in my experience.
