Category images went missing!

Up until a couple of days ago, when I clicked on the first category on my page, it would load with a grid of thumbnails showing the sub categories. This has disappeared out of the blue. All of the images are gone and it says there are no images for this category.

If I click the sub category directly, the product and image is there.

Check Admin - Configuration - Product Listing - Show SubCategories on Main Page while navigating first, then try switching back temporarily to the Classic template to see if it does the same thing.

No luck with either suggestion...the classic tempate still shows nothing in the category. The store configuration is as you suggested. Any other ideas? Thank you for the help!

Could you go to the Tools ... Developers Tool Kit ... and in the bottom input box enter:
category_row

select Catalog ... and click Search ...

Do you see the require statement in 1 or more files:

require($template->get_template_dir('tpl_modules_category_row.php',DIR_WS_TEMPLATE, $current_page_base,'templates'). '/tpl_modules_category_row.php');

and is one of them commented out:

// require($template->get_template_dir('tpl_modules_category_row.php',DIR_WS_TEMPLATE, $current_page_base,'templates'). '/tpl_modules_category_row.php');

If so, what happens if you fix that file and remove those comment marks?

This is resolved. There was a random product listed at the bottom of my categories. I'm not certain how it got there. I deleted it and now the images are back. Yay!

Thanks for the update that you found a Product mixed in with your Categories holding Sub Categories and that removing/moving it to a proper Category has resolved this issue ...

I am having a similar issue using 1.3.8a (with the php 5.3 patch)

The product pages images do not show. The categories images do along with the other images.

Have you checked the permissions on your /images directory and files?

Have you an URL to your site that we could perhaps peek at?
