    Default Discount Coupons Intermittenly not applying to Final Bill

    Good afternoon Zenners,


    I've had a intermittent reoccurring issue with Zen Cart's discount coupons for www.primevapor.com.

    The issue arises when a customer uses a discount code for a product. The site appears to be functioning normally, it gives the notice that the coupon has been redeemed and it even shows the reduced amount at the checkout confirmation screen.

    The kicker is that when the information is sent to our credit card gateway for processing, they sometimes charge the full amount without giving the discount. I cannot find a pattern to what causes this

    This has caused several of our customers some concern as they apply their discount codes only to be charged the full amount!

    Has anyone else encountered this issue? Could zen be sensitive to having too many coupons active at any one time?

    Well you can't win them all I suppose. We have plans to update the website from 1.3.8a to 1.3.9h and we will see how that goes. If it fixes the issues, then I'll report that back here as a fix. I doubt that we're the only ones experiencing this, merely the only ones reporting it.

    The codes fail with about 20% of our customers and we have been sifting through the raw logs trying to find a commonality between them. No luck as of yet.

    Hello Youngblood,

    Do you think it could be your credit card gateway that you are using for processing?

    Reason I said that. Because I had a problem with one of may payment module.

    I have no problem with the coupon discount. Knock on wood.

    That's what we thought at first. I checked into that and the gateway is functioning correctly.

    The issue seems to be narrowed down to zen cart sending the grand totals improperly when a coupon is used. I'm not skilled enough to start changing the if/then statements that comprise of our checkout_payment and checkout_confirmation pages, so updating the platform seemed like the next best option.

    Host Gator admins have failed at updating our platform as they are not sure they can keep our graphical customizations intact. I'll be updating this myself...eventually...when time permits.

    I have had this other idea, it's a stretch to explain this strange issue....

    But, what are the chances of zen cart having too many coupons active at any one time? Has zen cart's coupon functions been stress tested? We're pushing around 50-70 coupons right now, about 10-20 of those are presently active.
