Header with Product Categories

Sorry if this has been covered a million times...i couldn't find anything on it in a search....

How do i add a new header and include my product categories within it?

I have seen this on other zen sites but I must be missing something.

Admin > Configuration > Layout Settings > Categories-Tabs on/off.

I just tried this. It allows me to remove the categories from showing horizontal, but what i'm trying to do is have them displayed within a header....the same header that's at the very top of the page that shows the "home" and "log in" buttons.

Any ideas? Thanks

For that, you would need to edit /includes/templates/your_template/common/tpl_header.php, and move the categories-tabs section of code up to just after the navMain section.

You will probably not be able to put the categories in the same line as Home/Login, because there are several other links that will appear next to those in certain circumstances, and there probably would not be enough room for them all plus categories.

If we can see your site live we can give a better idea of what is possible.

Note how under his main logo header he has categories that are contained within a wide header....(brown in color)
