Default Switching from Windows to Linux

I have two questions regarding this topic.

    1. If I switch to Linux Server, do I have to re-install my Zen Cart? I am currently on a windows server with godaddy.

    2. Will I be able to set individual file permissions using my FileZilla FTP? Currently in windows this is not allowed, i can only set folder permissions from the Godaddy filemanager.

Thanks ahead Once i have this running and secure i can start window shopping for a better hosting site, once my GoDaddy account expires.

    Usually, yes.
Not sure about GoDaddy since I refuse to use them for hosting due to their horrible performance.

    Thanks for the Info.

I have called Godaddy, they assured me that on the Linux Server I will be able to set file permissions through my FTP. I have initiated the migration onto the Linux Server.

While you have the chance, go get hosting from a proper eCommerce host. GoDaddy will give you problems down the line. Their servers are (for many reasons) not really up to the task of managing proper eCommerce.

Just a small update. Switching to a linux server has solved all my HTTP 500 problems. I am running the 1.3.9h version.

    Cheers
