Upgrade help. 1.3.8a - 1.3.9h

OK. My 2nd attempt.

D/L LIVE site. (1.3.8a)
D/L ORIGINAL INSTALL. (1.3.8a)

Compared ORIGINAL to LIVE.
Wrote notes for files needed to edit for mods.

INSTALLED NEW ZC (1.3.9h) in sub directory.
D/L 1.3.9h from Web Server.

Edited NEW ZC files with LIVE note list I made from MOD installs.
Uploaded to server.

Also uploaded template files from LIVE to NEW ZC.

There has been no visual change.

I'm unsure the correct process to upgrade database?

I have downloaded my LIVE database and want to upload but when you select upgrade you just select 1.38 to 1.3.9 How do I upload the database from my LIVE site into my NEW ZC ?

I also can't access my admin

maybe one issue at a time?

It's not as complicated as you think. There are no special secret-handshakes required.

To upgrade the database, you simply upload the zc_install folder, and then run zc_install/index.php in your browser, and choose the Database Upgrade button.

So, if you're trying to upgrade your temporary new ZC for staging, you import your live database backup into your new database, then run zc_install and choose database-upgrade.

Thats the bit I'm unsure of how.

I click on the upgrade option.

It lists current database information.

Please confirm your desired upgrade steps

It's the same as doing a database-restore, with phpMyAdmin

So, given that the context here is upgrading, and you're supposed to be creating a temporary staging area, and you're supposed to be uploading a copy of your Live database INTO your temporary staging site's database, you would open phpMyAdmin, select Import, select the .sql file for the backup you made of your live database, and click Go

As the text in that section says, you ONLY use those fields IF you're INTENTIONALLY trying to change the table prefixes. If you're not intending to do that, or have no idea what that means or why you'd do it, then you'll just leave that section alone.

Was wondering during the upgrade process was nowhere to upload DB :S

So go into myPhpADMIN

select the database of TEST NEW ZC and go to IMPORT.

Then upload LIVE DB backup?

Does it matter that they have dif names or compressed myDBfile.sql.gz.gz ?

Um, no. The IMPORT *is* your upload.

You'll likely have problems if you've got double-compressed files like .gz.gz
I'd probably gunzip it before using it.

OK imported the file in.. said it was successful. Can see same amount of matching ables in myphp admin with both DB live and the NEW ZC test.

Now the site doesn't load at all. I get a Custom 404 Error Page in my LIVE cart.

Admin loads a blank page.

I do have admin profiles installed.

be nice to get website loading before trying to figure that one out?

If you're suddenly having problems in your *live* site, then you've been touching files from the wrong folder, and/or importing data into the wrong database.

No problems with LIVE site only NEW ZC in sub folder.

This installed and worked before DB upgrade.
