Default Improved Stylesheet Calls support thread

Improved Stylesheet Calls is available in the Free Addons.

This is an improved version of html_header.php to call stylesheets in a more flexible manner.
You can apply an additional stylesheet for each ez-page chapter, covering all of its pages.
You can apply an additional stylesheet for each ez-page.
You can apply an additional stylesheet for each top category, covering all of its subcats.
Stylesheets are called in a more efficient manner, saving a few milliseconds of load time:)

Hi, thanks for this mod, I have been going round in circles for a while now trying to figure out why my ie_product_info.css isn't making the changes I want and now i see it's because of alphabetical preference.

is there a way of forcing ie_product_info.css to be loaded after ie_stylesheet.css?

the problem i have is that my right sideboxes on the product info page are perfect in firefox but in IE they appear 60ish pixels to the right, bleeding over the border of the page and looking terrible.

sorry if i should be posting this question in another forum, but i think the answer will be informative in this support thread.

here is a link to the offending page http://www.plasmainstalls.co.uk/inde...roducts_id=320

many thanks for any help anyone can give me, this forum is world class, this is the first question i have needed to ask, everything else i have needed to know has come from just reading through the vast pages of helpful posts.

Unless you have some other mod installed, browser-specific stylesheets are not going to be loaded by html_header.php unless their names start with "style". Whatever you have that is loading the IE stylesheets will be the place to look for adjusting this.

How many rules are there in ie_product_info.css? You could just put them into ie_stylesheet.css, with added selectors to give specificity so they only apply to the product info page. This would eliminate the need to override ie_stylesheet.css.

thanks for the reply, i think i get it.

i have the html_header file that came with my template, i have attached it so you can see what it does.

Im only just getting used to css, getting the store up and running and into an existing website was a baptism of fire, i'm just starting with php so haven't really got a clue what i'm looking at yet.

    thanks for your help

That copy of html_header.php loads all ie_*.css stylesheets before ie#_*.css stylesheets, so if you know which versions of IE have a problem with your site, you can change the name to (for example) ie7_product_info.css.

Alternatively, since the code doesn't select the ie stylesheets based on current page, but just loads all of them, you could change the name of ie_product_info.css to ie_xproduct_info.css.

Finally, there is no point in having these two ie stylesheets loading; your best bet is to put the rules all in ie_stylesheet.css with added selectors if necessary to actually apply different styling on the product info page.

OK, FINALLY finally, the best of all would be to find out what is up with your site that IE is giving unexpected results. Usually when something like this happens, it is due to errors being handled differently by different browsers. You can start a new thread for that, and give a link to see your site live (the only way we can solve many styling problems).
