Products on sale: mix of selected items = %disc

I've got my site up and going now as from last night - I like how it's come along.

But now I'm stuck on one point - our company offers a "multiple item purchase discount for 6 or more" for a specific range of items. So for example, buy 3 of product XXX and buy 3 of product YYY, equals a total of 6 items, so there's a 10% discount.

I've easily set up "Buy 6 Less 5%" for individual items, but I can't figure out how to set it up so a total of 6 related items can have a 10% discount applied to the total invoice price.

The items I'm looking at to do this are not necessarily in the same category as each other... most of the time they are, but not always. And when all sale items are in the same category, not necessarily will *all* items in that category have the "Buy mix of 6 or more for 10% discount" sale discount applied to it.
