Newsletter Subscribe 2.2

I have successfully added the Newsletter Subscribe addon to my site, however when I attempt to test it and sign up for the newletter, no confirmation emails are getting sent out. I have waited for several hours now and still nothing. Is the delay really this long, or is something missing? If the delay is that long is there a way to shorten the time before the email gets sent?

My test users are showing up in the Subscription Manager, so that does not seem to be the problem.
