re-install on DB

We have a client that had an old version of zen cart (not sure which version)

This has been hacked and is not longer working (says the configuration file is missing but its there) anyway

I have installed a new version and re-added the template that was created for them which is all fine, but what I want to do is install the old products from the old DB onto the new one - is this possible or has the DB structure of the latest DB changed too much to cater for this?

What is the best way to do this

We published an article on this, which includes setting up a new 1.3.9h site and then upgrading an earlier database. Use just that part of the article if you have already done the rest.
