After editing the main page (using the Define Pages Editor), only HTML is displayed on the store main page (only in the area controlled by define_main_page.php). 1.3.9h is installed. Using custom templates, etc. If I edit the page offline then upload to the site, I get the same result.

Are you sure you are using 1.3.9h ?
This was a (temporary) issue with 1.3.9g and was resolved by advice in THIS THREAD.20 years a Zencart User
