table rate not working?!

im using table rate for my postage (by weight) and i have set the table settings as

450:1.50,500:2.00,550:2.50,600:2.75,650:3.00,700:3.50,800:3.95,850:4.50,1100:5.0 0,1200:5.50,1300:6.00,1500:6.50,1600:7.00,1700:7.20,1750:7.40,1800:7.60,1850:8.5 0,2500:9.00,2600:10,*:10.00

up to 1600lbs (i have changed the unit in the language files) it works and calculates postage correctly, i have set the tare to 0:0 and also changed the maximum weight of a package to 100000 so this shouldnt be an issue

when using the standard settings upon installation of this module the shorter version of a table rate works, i am using uk zones but again when using these zones with the standard set of table rates it works so i dont suppose these will be part of the issue.

i appreciate that my table rate is quite long so i wonder if this is the cause of this table rate not working? is there a place i phpmyadmin where i can lengthen the chars allowed for this or does anyone have any idea of what else the problem may be?

table rate is the only shipping module i have installed and i am using 1.3.8a

i read on another post that that would take care of "anything else" ive taken it off to see if its made a difference and its still not working even without it?

i have checked my zone setup and all is fine and as i said with a shorter table of rates it works?

I setup your table in a demo install of 1.3.9h and all but the last works
No zones set
I made the weight 100 so you can add in increments and you know your table

The * has no place in the definition ... if you are trying to say everything above 2500 is 10, then instead of:

thankyou ive just looked and your absolutely right, i tried adding 16 of them and it took it to 1700 lbs, which in my shop would not have displayed a price but worked fine in your demo.

im not sure why this is happening in that case? i have even looked into the phpmyadmin to see if the char limit had been restriced on the configuration value for MODULE_SHIPPING_TABLE_COST and it doesnt seem to have any limit on it at all so im not all together sure if this is whats actually wrong.

silly question, rather like how long is a piece of string :S but do you know of any other places where i may have been able to restrict the weight to 1600lbs? , i do have quite a few mods but im not using any other mods which affect the checkout process or the shipping /handling etc

ive just done a search in phpmyadmin for anything with 1600 set as its value on the off chance that it shows up and only the costs settings for the table show up as including this value.
