It would make your customers feel more comfortable about entering their personal information on your site, such as address and phone number. So, yes............if you want to sell anything online these days...........it's pretty much a requirement.

Bottom line.............no. But, if you hope to have people create an account to purchase anything............then, yea. You can get one for slightly over 3 buck per month. Having one can earn you WAY more than that in the long run if you compare it to the customers you will loose due to NOT having one.

What I mean is that you take a customer like me.............If you don't secure my personal information on your site, then I'm not going to enter it in............therefor, if I WAS going to buy a product from your store, already had it in my cart and clicked the checkout button, got taken to the Create Account page, and that page isn't secure..............I'm leaving, and you just lost a sale. If that page IS secure.........then I'm going to enter in my information, complete the purchase, and you've made a sale............all because you cared about my personal information.

Make sense? Would YOU buy something from MY store if I didn't care enough about YOUR information to keep it locked up and secured?...........probably not, huh?

GoDaddy is still doing $12.95/year standard SSL certificates... not sure how long that special will last. Just grabbed 5 years worth for our site and it is working quite nicely:

I should add that it is working quite nicely thanks to helpful information that I was able to find on this forum.

At that price it really is a no-brainer.
