Default Is there any guideline for SQL_CACHE_METHOD?

    Hi,
I am asking for opinions and guideline.

My store carries more than 1600 products. Should I change the SQL_CACHE_METHOD setting in the configure.php to "file" or "database" for better performance? If yes, which one is better? and how? (I mean, do I just change the SQL_CACHE_METHOD setting here without doing anything else?)

    I am using 1.3.9h and multi-xsell mod.

    Thank you for any replies.

I prefer file vs db to minimize additional mysql activity

    thanks!

shall I just change the setting from "none" to "file" in both configure.php files without changing anything else?

In addition, will the cache folder grow very big? I searched the forum and saw some users talking about the folder size growing to several hundred MB.

Also, I just found this post by Dr.Byte http://www.zen-cart.com/forum/showpo...77&postcount=2
    Any opinions?

Yes - - nothing else as long a /cache exists

Other thing can get placed there from other causes

Your number of products is largely irrelevant. The amount of traffic to your site is the main determiner. If you're not getting more than a couple thousand hits per hour, "none" is just fine.

Thanks for all the replies from Kobra and DrByte.

    Very clear.

My store doesn't get several thousand hits every day (Maybe once or twice a month during a sales event) so I will leave it as "none" for now.
