Easy Way - View Only Attibutes

Anyone of an easy way to have view only attributes as images?
I want to be able to add a new product and for that product define it's features using checkboxes.
Once submitted, on the product info page, I want just an icon to show for each of the features I have selected (e.g. 'Waterproof', 'Handsfree'). Just the image I have selected for my icon though, no user viewable/selectable fields.

...and to just to make life a little trickier - if the product 'doesn't' have that feature I want a different image to show. I'll have a greyed out icon if the feature isn't available and a lit one if it is.
