    Default Migration Plan

    Hi everyone,

I am setting up Zen Cart initially to trial, but if all goes well I would like migrate the trial installation to teh real thing replacing our current carts.

We have multiple stores and the successful installation of the MultiSite Module is also required.

My question of those in the know is.....

What is the best way to install Zen Cart (with MulttiSite module such that our current site carts are not blown away during trial/config, yet we can quickly switch over to the new Zen Carts when we want them to go live. I really don't want to introduce a new main URL (eg. sitename\catalogue\index.htp) but end up with the new sites having sitename\index.htm as they do now using the current cart.

    Did that all make sense?

    Thanks in advance.

Not exactly, but if I understand correctly, what I would do is install the new Zencart(s) to subdomains (yourdomain.com/test1, test2, etc.) test thoroughly, then move to the domain root(s) when you're ready. Moving from a subdirectory to root is simple - move all the files, then edit the path information in the 2 configure.php files.

    Hi stevesh,

So if I currently have Zen Cart installed in mydomain.com/catalogue I can continue to configure there and delete current cart files from mydomain.com when ready and move file structure from mydomain.com/catalogue and change the two config files you mention. That would be nice and easy and quick.

    Thanks for that.

Exactly right. Those two files are in includes and in admin/includes.
