    Default Slight Emergency

Somehow all of my individual product pages have disappeared and I do not know why. I had just installed the multi-cross selling mod, when I noticed it. so I uninstalled it with no luck. I then uploaded the back-up of the entire site and still no luck. The problem is that I do not go into the individual pages on the catalog side that often so I can't be exactly sure when this happened.

Anyone have ANY ideas at all? My only other two choices at this point are upload an old backup and redo everything since then or to start all over and THAT is definitely not good.

Ok from the debug log this is the only error from today:

This is line 184 from main_template_vars.php:

    require($template->get_template_dir($tpl_page_body,DIR_WS_TEMPLATE, $current_page_base,'templates'). $tpl_page_body);

    Check for existence of
    includes/templates/surfshop/templates/tpl_product_info_display.php
    /includes/modules/pages/product_info/main_template_vars.php

Especially if xsell modified any of them

    Code:
    /includes/modules/pages/product_info/main_template_vars.php on line 184

OMG I can't believe I almost had a heart attack over this but here was the surprisingly simple solution:

I installed the Multi-Cross sell mod which uses files in YOUR TEMPLATE folder which of course you rename to whichever template you are using.

Which this mod calls on the tpl_product_info_display.php file in that directory. The problem hit because my version of that file is in the template default directory and not in my "surfshop" directory.

All I had to do was copy it over and poof everything including my pulse went back to normal.

Thanks Kobra, I forgot all about that tutorial and the debug logs

Any time you mess with a mod - - keep exact notes on what it adds/modifies
So that is you decide to remove it you can back out any alterations it has made...

Better yet create a test install - - back it up both files and DB and make your module evaluations on it first

I did try to have a sandbox version on my laptop but it REALLY hated running the server. I am building a desktop just to testbed everything. I do run a full site and database backup everytime I successfully install a mod.

the main problem I noticed was that I don't normal go all the way down to the individual item pages on the catalog side that often unless I am adding new products, so it had been a couple of weeks and that is a LOT of time to try to remember what you have done. I lucked out this time as it was the last mod installed.

Good advice. Knowing where each file is going and what it is replacing is certainly worth keeping track of. In reality, if you are using the recent version of zen cart, you shouldn't need a lot of add ons, and the more you add, the more there are chances of coding issues and other faults.
A splash of jquery and some nice css will get you a professional look.
