Products titles/descriptions disappeared from listing fields

Hello,
I've happily listed a few products via the admin yesterday. But the titles and descriptions have now disappeared from their respective listing fields located under products in the admin. The titles and descriptions show all right on the local site (not online yet) as well as in the database. Is this normal?

Hello there, is there anyone who know why these 2 product listing fields ("products name" and "product description") under the admin, keep emptying themselves?

Again, when I list any product, all info appear all right on the local site (not uploaded online yet) as well as in the database. However, when I go back to the product for edits, I have to reenter the title and description every single time before updating, which is very time consuming.

I am having this trouble, especially when editing a product (changing it's price).

I have to keep re-inputting the title name and descriptions of things when I want to change other things.

Any help on this would be appreciated.

I can read the following note on that thread:

Using PHP version lower than 5.2.3 ... NOTE: If you're using such an old version of PHP, then your site is certainly not PCI-Compliant, and is thus likely to contain known security problems in PHP, and you should be upgrading your hosting to a newer version of PHP.

I am working locally with XAMPP 1.4.16, PHP version 5.0.0.

However the PHP version of the hosting company is 5.2.2.

Should I upgrade to the latest XAMPP version 2.2.14, or is it unnecessary?
