Credit Card Processing Help

Recently, I upgraded 1.2.x store to 1.3.9h.

I have been using standard Credit Card Processing module. However with the new version I have to use something external. Any recommendations?

I am based in the US.

It is not recommended that you use offline CC processing. In fact, you may be violating your card procedssor's T&C's by doing so.

However, a reliable offline module can be found here

Please forgive my lack of knowledge on this.

If the one you linked is also offline, what's the difference between two? Security?

Storing credit card data in a database on a shared server is not secure. If you send the middle digits via email this is also not secure, because:

1. Email is the most insecure transport method for data.

2. If hackers get into your site they can arrange for the middle digits to go to themselves alone, or to you with a copy to them (in which case you would not know they were getting a copy).

A standard Merchant ID is not the same as an Internet Merchant ID, and only an Internet Merchant ID allows you to take payments online.

I'm using paypal pro for credit card processing.
Except of the monthly fee, it's a good - and month to month - solution.
