Database Transfer Question

Hi...I have just installed a new zen cart install (1.3.9) on the same server. My old zen cart was 1.3.8. I would like to transfer my database from one to the other and I don't know really how to go about it.

I am using a new look and a new store and would like to just have the images, zip files, address book etc transferred over with ease. I am good at figuring out how zen cart works but I know NOTHING about databases.

Any help you be much appreciated.

ver 1.3.8 to 1.3.9 will require a proper database upgrade. It is certainly faster, easier and safer than trying to "extract" bits of data.

You readily admit to knowing nothing about databases... so just upgrade properly and you will be fine...

Okay, so I think i've been a bit stupid!

I decided that I didn't like my site and being my first attempt I had files all over the place, so thought I would start all over again, removing all the files from my server after doing a backup.

I've reimported all my pics, etc, but then realised my customers, reviews, attributes etc must need to be imported.

I have already customised my shop so want to avoid having to remove and re-start as above are there any other solutions?

My current database is called the same as my old one and therefore I cannot import

I am completly stuck with this as I have absolutely no Idea what I am doing when it comes to databases and don't want to fiddle incase I do more harm, plus I keep reading on backups/imports but inless someone can be specific to what I need, I would be very very grateful!

Do you have access to phpmyadmin?

I am assuming that you're trying to reinstall Zen Cart from its installation page using the same database name, you'll need to first remove that database "h06wedd_zencart" as your MySQL stated, before you can install a new copy with the same database name.

Please make sure you make a backup of that database before tampering with it!!

Let us know exactly what you don't understand about database backup and restorations, and I'm very sure your questions will be resolved right of way here.
