Coupon Code and Free shipping

Hi


We have free shipping set up for orders over 50.00. When a customer uses a coupon causing the order total to dip below 50.00, the shipping is still showing as free where a shipping fee should be applied because the order total went below 50.00.

It appears that the free shipping is looking at the sub total which is over the 50.00 but not taking into account that the coupon is taking the total below 50.00.

Does this have to do with a setting being over looked? I'm looking and so far haven't found anything.

zen cart version in use is 1.3.8a with Database Patch Level: 1.3.9a

What version are you really running that you see in the Tools ... Server Info ...

The coupon is set at 10.0000%
The free shipping box is not ticked

This is not my cart so I don't know what is going on with the version discrepancy. This is what it says in version:

Zen Cart 1.3.8a
Patch: 1::
Database Patch Level: 1.3.9a

I had some time to test this in my store which is 1.3.9d

I have set up free shipping for orders over $50.01 and made a coupon for 10% off any amount order.

When I have orders in the basket totaling $50.50, free shipping is available. The 10% coupon subtracts $5.05 from the order and the addition of sales tax brings the order total to $48.63 which is below $50.01.

Shouldn't free shipping be unavailable for this order?

I've been experimenting with the stacking order of the order total modules to see if it might make a difference in the calculation and whether free shipping is still offered as an option.

Nothing I've tried so far has worked to keep the free shipping option from being available when the coupon code takes the order total below $50.00.

From what I have read the "Free Shipping Options" module offers free shipping based on Order Total, Order Weight or Order Item Count.

In this case "Free Shipping Options" is set to offer free shipping based on order totals, but it appears to be looking at the subtotal.

Anyone?

Is it possible to change the checkout order steps so the coupon code entry can come before the shipping method selection? This way the discount can be deducted from the subtotal before "free shipping options" looks at the subtotal.

We are looking into this to find the best solution ... as this is something some want your way, where Free Shipping is the total *after* the discount and some want it the way it is where shipping is before the discounts ...
