Default Add weight of Envelope/Package to order

I have looked and looked for the answer to this problem, but can't get my head around it no matter what I try.

I am working on the Packaging for orders.

I use Zone Shipping (all works)

I am now trying to work out the Tare weight.

    I send maximum 2kg

All my orders are send in Envelopes that weight 45g

How do I add this 45g to the order total?

I see this, but can't make sense out of it

    Example: 10% + 1lb 10:1
    10% + 0lbs 10:0
    0% + 5lbs 0:5
    0% + 0lbs 0:0

I have tried different things out ....eg.

    1% + 45lbs 0:45

When I add the total weight of the products and the total weight showing on the invoice it has only added 32 grams to it

Thank you in advance for your help.

I have never had a need to use tare so this is a stab in the dark:

    In Admin > Configuration > Shipping/Packaging select

Package Tare Small to Medium - added percentage:weight

    try entering 0:0.045

    Leave larger packages at 0

Enter the Maximum Package Weight you will ship: 2

Now do a test order with an item that weighs 1kg. If all is well it should show up as a total weight of 1.045kg

Then do another test order with an item weighing 1.5kg. The result should be 1.545kg (at least I hope that will be result .... )

    Danke danke :)

Your suggestion actually didnt work , but got me on the right track

    I tried.......

1:45 and now it adds the 45g to the total weight :) So that problem solved

Only problem now are those decimal points

This is what the invoice is showing.

    Shipping (Shipping to CH (53.08gr(s)))

What it should be showing is (53gr(s) )

No idea where the 0.8 comes from, or where it's adding from.

Any help there would be appreciated

okay....just a small update to this.

I change the 1:45 to 0:45 and now the 0.8 is gone. It was obviously adding 1% it.

Now I just have to figure out the decimals :)

If you avoid using the % then there won't be any decimals to figure out :-)

I note that you wish to add 45g to all parcels, in which case your latest setting of 0:45 is correct. (even though the examples imply this is Lbs, in reality, they are simply 'units').

This means that you need to use gms as your weight factor everywhere, for example, if the maximum weight you will ship is 2Kg, this will need to be entered as 2000 (gms).

If you elect to use Kgs as you weight factor, the the setting for your maximum weight will be simply "2", but your tare weight settings will then need to be adjusted to 0:045, because if you leave it at 0:45 it will calculate 2 + 45 = 47kg rather than 2000 + 45 gms

The 'final' piece of this puzzle is in realising that these numbers are simply that, just numbers.. they are neither gms, kgs or lbs ... they are in fact whatever your *shipping* module determines them to be.

As long as you are consistant (use either gms, or kgs, never both) you won't go too far astray.

    Cheers
    Rod.

ps. Congratulations on having the sense to consider the impact of tare weights (even only 45gms). I'm forever amazed at the number of merchants that think packaging weight is an insignificant consideration.
