You didn't need to upgrade the database, per instructions in the release notes:

    Code:
    NOTE:
If you're upgrading from v1.3.9a or b or c or d or e or f, you can simply update the files listed in EACH OF the various "Changelog for v1.3.9b" and "c" and "d" and "e" and "f" and "g" in the /docs/ folder of the download zip.
(There are no database changes between v1.3.9a-b-c-d-e-f-g-h.)
     (there's no need to remove/re-install payment modules between "d" and "e" and "f" and "g" and "h")
So if you have a backup, I would suggest using it to restore your database to it's original content so you won't be loosing anything.

I have upgraded to 1.3.9h from 1.3.9g and have the same problem e.g. no product name, description etc when viewing and previewing the products in admin.
I've reverted back to using 1.3.9g product/collect_info.php and it shows up again and works fine.
I looked at your solution above and it says that it is a problem with old PHP versions. However in my cpanel it says I'm using 5.2.14, so what could be my problem be since my PHP version is not older than you suggested?

    My PHP version is 5.2.14
    My MYSQL version is 5.1.48

    Thanks in advance!

Now just noticed that under the server/version info under the Tools section in admin it is telling me the the PHP Version is 4.4.9. Seems odd as my cpanel is telling me 5.2.14!!!???

I've now just fixed this problem. It appears that even though my stats in the right hand colum of cpanel told me I was running 5.2.14 it hadn't be enabled and I was actually still running 4.4.9 when I checked under the Tools Section in my zen cart admin. If you have the same issue you need to update your PHP in cpanel as follows:

1.) Log in to your Cpanel.
2.) Under "Software/services" go to "PHP Configuration"
3.) Select PHP5 form the drop-down list menu, then click "Update"

    Thanks!

Thanks for the update on what worked for you ...

Another possible solution for those using less than php 5.3.2 is post #6 on the thread:
