Prod Description line spacing

Hello Zenners
When im entering my text in the product description box, if i press return my text always skips a line so there's always blank line between my sentences.
if i text edit in html mode i can see the <p> tags everywhere.
is this a default setting i can edit?
How to i get to the next line without skipping a line?
