I'm lost, I see in your test it works fine but it doesn't work for me in any of the sites. I thought for a second could be the designer boxes module but then I realize some of those sites don't use that module.

I will install a new cart of testing and see what happens.

Is there any other possible setting that could be interfering with this?

Are there any mods that are common to the sites that don't work ? It sounds like all our stock (modless) test sites work properly.

Not that I'm aware of.

I will do the new installation later on and will report. I also think is something I'm just importing over and over with the upgrades.

Yes, Kobra and I were looking into this again, and this is definitely a bug. Apparently last time I missed something and didn't do a correct test or maybe I was blind.

Both have the same functional selections the latter works while the former seems to have no effect

Ok, my definition but you witnessed it.

I think is a bug because is not working as it is supposed. If you have the "Main Page" ON and not sub-categories on, it is supposed to show on main page, and that doesn't happen. It will only show on Main Page when you select "Main Page - Category with SubCategories". I believe the settings are there in case you want them to show on main page and not on main page categories. But doesn't work like that, so I believe it's a bug if it doesn't work as it is supposed to work. Isn't?

I cannot repeat what you are describing ... do you have an URL where this is not working that we can see this not work when you have the settings for the:

Show New Products on Main Page
Show Featured Products on Main Page
Show Special Products on Main Page
Show Upcoming Products on Main Page

What settings are you using on them?

You have set the Main Page to show the SubCategories with the Main Page opening for categories_id 0, so your Main Page is actually working off the setting for:

Show New Products on Main Page - Category with SubCategories
Show Featured Products on Main Page - Category with SubCategories
Show Special Products on Main Page - Category with SubCategories
Show Upcoming Products on Main Page - Category with SubCategories

It is working as designed and not a bug ...

Isn't this setting to show the centerboxes ONLY on the main category pages, where the subcategories are shown?

Please explain what is this setting for?

Isn't this supposed to make the centerboxes appear ONLY on the main page? If not, what for? Because on their own they don't show up anywhere.
