Default Help with Define Pages Editor

Hello, on behalf of my client, I would like to ask for help from the forum. Thank you in advance for your assistance. I am having trouble with the HTML in Define Pages Editor. My client is running 1.3.9g, and does not wish to upgrade to 1.3.9h at this time. I understand that upgrading is smarter and easier, but staying with 1.3.9g is her choice, after hearing the explanation.

I have installed the fix noted in this post:
    http://www.zen-cart.com/forum/showpo...9&postcount=52

which has removed the HTML code from the pages defined in the editor. This helps. My question is, is there no way in version 1.3.9g to add images and style text with either the editor in the Define Pages Editor in through code copied into the Plain Text Editor? I have searched the tutorials, documentation and this forum for three days, and cannot find the specific help I need.

I really need to just add a photo and some text to the main page in the define_main_page, something like the classic template has included in its original form.

I would appreciate any help you can give me. Thanks in advance, Lisa

Default Re: Help with Define Pages Editor--Providing more information

I have tried adding my photo and text through the HTML editor on the Define Pages Editor, and coding it myself and copying it into the Plain Text Editor. I even went back to the Main Page in the classic template, copied that coding, replaced it with my photo and pasted it into my page using the plain text editor. All of my attempts come up with HTML tags, no photo, etc.

Here is my client's main page:

Please note that she has contracted with me to help her fix the problems she is having with this version. I did not code the shop originally, but I do have access to change things if you can help me with a solution.

I wanted to add this to my previous post, but the forum would not allow me to. I thought this information would be helpful to you. Thanks.

I don't really understand your problem.

The define pages can contain just about any kind of raw HTML, so if you want to put images into the page, just create a valid <img src="path_to_the_image"> tag.

(You can do this with the WYSIWYG or via raw html (plain text)).

If you are OK with the way to code HTML, and you are referring to UPLOADING the actual image once the page is HTML coded, then the only way to do this is via FTP...

...(although I have successfully done this by creating a "false product" and used the product image upload feature, just to get the image onto the server without using ftp).

Upgrading to 1.3.9h is quick and there are no database changes - just a few files.

You need to explain to your client (tactfully) that NOT upgrading is actually irresponsible.

Thanks for getting back to me. I don't think I explained my problem very well--my apologies. The WYSIWYG editor and Plain Text Editor in my installation of 1.3.9g are not working. In other words, I cannot format any text or add any photos to any page through the Define Pages Editor, using either the WYSIWYG editor or the Plain Text Editor. I'll give you an example--I formatted this text and photo for the main page, using the coding from the main page in the classic template as a guide. I even re-named my image e-start-book.gif, thinking that what I had called my image had something to do with it. Here is my code for the define_main_page:
    <b><img src="http://ididitcreations.com/club/images/large/e-start-book.gif" alt="Join the Outlaw Women Scrapbook Emporium Yahoo! Group!" align="middle" border="0" hspace="0" vspace="0" /><br />Welcome to Outlaw Women Scrapbook Emporium! </b>

I built this in your WYSIWYG editor in the Define Page Editor section of your admin. When I hit save, then look at my main page, I do not see the image. I only see this:

    <b><img src="http://ididitcreations.com/club/images/large/e-start-book.gif" alt="Join the Outlaw Women Scrapbook Emporium Yahoo! Group!" align="middle" border="0" hspace="0" vspace="0" /><br />Welcome to Outlaw Women Scrapbook Emporium! </b>

Could you please tell me why my main page is not showing my image and text, and how I can fix it in this version? I understand from the forum post that I mentioned before that this was a bug in this version, and this work around code that was mentioned in post #52 was a fix for it. I installed that code in the correct place, and what it did was remove the HTML tags from my current information on the main page. It did not, however, allow me to insert new tags, such as <b> or any other features or images. My question is, did this actually fix the version to the point that I can use your Define Page Editor WYSIWYG HTML editor or the Plain Text Editor to edit the define_main_page? If not, how can I edit the pages that I need to edit, and have the page display the images I need and not have the HTML tags show?

Incidentally, I tried this exact thing in 1.3.9h, and it worked beautifully. Also, my client plans to upgrade, however she has an ad in a major magazine at present and would rather not have any down time for a week or two, which is understandable.

I appreciate your time and attention. Thank you, Lisa

Takes about 10 minutes to upgrade from g to h... so I don't know where you get "weeks of downtime" from.

If you correctly applied the EXTRA WHITE LIST then the markup visibility issue whould have disappeared.

When I was on 1.3.9g I managed to use Ajeh's code easily and quickly.

If you're not getting the desired result then you are hashing something.

Easiest is to upgrade - your client won't even know you did it.
