Problem installing 1.3.9h

Just installed 1.3.9h. A new, clean insall on a new server. I followed instructions and install ran cleanly.
I accessed Admin and got the warning about deleting the install folder and renaming the admin folder.
I went to the FAQ for rename admin and followed instructions.
and modified the 'admin' folder name as requested, and remembered about the 'read-only' attribute when uploading.
I kept getting 404 error looking for alert in admin folder. It had me puzzled for a while.

Eventually I sorted it - I found that in this version the 'configure.php' file in 'catalog/includes' also needs the 'admin' path changing in the same way as the FAQ advised for 'configue.php' in the '/catalog/admin/includes' folder.
I see a comment in the configure file about keeping the versions seperate - is this a boo-boo in the 'h' distro?

There's no difference in that regard in version 1.3.9h. You shouldn't have to edit includes/configure.php when changing the admin folder name.

Um, well, no, it wasn't. It's fine that you got your site working, but you made a mistake somewhere, as the site configure file has no effect on the admin functions. It may come back to bite you later.

yes - its perfectly possible I repeated the same error 3 times
I appreciate your offer to take a look. I would love to know where I went wrong.

Obviously I have 'removed' database id/passwords, and changed the true path name back to 'admin' for security reasons.
In order to get it working I roemoved the 3 'admin' definitions from the first file so I now have

I see that you ae not using the approved distribution for installation - Link to approved distribution

With the correct distribution there is no need to remove any lines

Here is the store side file that comes with the approved distribution - as dist-configure.php which is used by the installer to build the actual file
Notice the file date stamp and author which has been the same for several versions

Thanks for that - I did use the sourceforge download.
I am about to set up a copy on a different server.

I will re-download and see what happens with the new install.
