Text Field Attributes

Hello!
I'm trying to make text field attributes for some custom made clothing items be mandatory before the item can be added to the shopping cart. Someone please tell me there is an easy way to do this? And please speak in a language that simpletons like myself can understand. Thank you!

Here is an example of one of the listings I am referring to -

As you can see there are 3 text fields, but right now you can add the item to your cart without filling them. I'm using zencart 1.3.9d
