Cleaning up Images folder

After a clean, no demo data, install I have followed instructions on security page for removing unused folder ( I wont de selling downloads or media).

In the images folder ar a number of apparently unnecessary foldes and image files.

PLease can anyone advise what needs to be kept and what can go?

I presume I can delete the following folders:
hewlett_packard
matrox
microsoft
sierra
dvd
gt_interactive
manufactures - images if not folder
samples - images if not folder

Is that OK?
What about the image files in the images root and medium and large forlders - can some of these go?
What about the banners folder - especially the ZEN images?
or Categories folder cartoon images?

It would be nice if the clean install option didnt actually load them in the first place.

In another thread Kobra advice most images can be removed. I wonder if that applies to the credit card images in 3ds and icons folders, or buttons in attributes folder

Any advice greatfully received.
