Try uninstalling Standard and use Express instead, and see if the problems go away. There's no reason I'm aware of to use Paypal Standard any more.

Thanks for your advice, I switched over to express checkout which has come with it's own set of problems.
I'm now getting the error message:
An error occurred when we tried to contact the payment processor. Please try again, select an alternate payment method, or contact the store owner for assistance. () - (7) Failed to connect to 66.211.168.126: Permission denied
From having a look around I think this is more of a web hosting/server issue that a Zen Cart one. I'll check with the server admin and go from there .....unless it's not a server issue when further advice would be much appreciated!
