Automated Customer Referral System?

I was just checking on the progress of this module.

I need something pretty similar, it sounds like, where a buyer can get a point for each item he buys, and I want the number of items bought by a user (points) to be trackable (and changeable by the admin). *But* along with this, I want referrals to count as items bought (points) for the user as well. So, the person buying and leaving the other user's name wouldn't get any rewards themselves other than points for what they bought, but the person they said referred them would get a point for each item bought in their name. Thus, for every X number of points (items bought or purchases referred), a person can order something from my Zen Cart store for free.

This differs from what I see that comes with the Zen Cart software as well as the add-on modules that are available and a little different from what the original poster here is wanting.

Would this be easily doable? Any instruction would be great. Thank you!
