using iframe to embed index.php to html

I was wondering if anybody has tried this. I already have a nice look and feel on my website and want to maintain the menus and extra side bar links I have, yet offer people the ease of shopping with zen cart.

I was wondering, can I embed the index.php of zen cart into my existing html template using an iframe? and have all the links in the php file keep opening up within that html page, or will you be going outside the initial html webpage everytime you click?

As far as I know, Zen Cart and iframes are a bad combination and should be avoided.

kinda what I have been reading in here found some basic issues people were having troubles with gateways not accepting payments from an iframe. here is a page on how to make the paypal section work and open in a new window, but use iframes for the rest.

I originally had my site setup to have zencart displayed in an iFrame. The problem that i ran into was when i wanted to have all card checkout processes go through my SSL. You wont be able to display SSL certificate information through the iFrame, well as far as i could figure out. I just redesigned all the pages and simulated the iFrame and now it works out pretty good for me.
