Banner loading (temporarily) in wrong place

Please could somebody help me, Im stumped!
My banner, on loading page to browser, loads underneath my sliding images for a second or so then jumps (yes not very technical terms I know sorry) up to its correct position to the right of my page. My site is www.shabbylane.co.uk
I'm unsure if it's a CSS issue or a template (monster!) issue. Could this be why my site is also slow loading?

I'm just guessing, but I suspect that it's loading there, then waiting for all the slideshow images to load before it assumes its proper location. Not sure what you would do about it, save making the slideshow images smaller in file size.

Thankyou for taking the time to look Stevesh. The slide show images were much larger until recently, I have shrunk/optimized them, however would you think make them even smaller? I didnt want to go much smaller due to image quality. I have noticed though upon keeping refreshing the browser page that the load order seems to be slideshow, banner (in wrong position) then the grey band that shows which image is displaying in the slideshow, then once the grey band loads the banner jumps up to its rightful position. So could it be to do with the image selector/grey band loading? Clutching at straws & apologies if not explaing myself clearly.
