Is a simple postal rate based on a list of values not possible?!

I am at my wits end, When I first installed zen cart years ago I searched for something that would work for me, no joy, 5 years later and latest upgrade done...still no joy with the shipping.

Basically I have a list of UK Postcodes (outcodes) and I have attached delivery charges to them based on the distance from my location (as i deliver myself postal rates are no good, I need the delivery charges roughly relating to mileage).

I have all the codes in a spreadsheet with the postcode, local town and delivery charge all listed for approx 450 post code areas, so ideally I want the shipping estimator to be able to tell the client delivery charges. It doesn't necessarily need to be added into the total calculation as is paid in cash at present, I just want a way around having to get clients to download a spreadsheet to work out delivery cost as this is likely to harm conversions.

The shipping therefore needs to do very little for my purposes no fancy calculations just match a postcode with a pre-programmed price, but I cant find a mod anywhere that appears to offer anything like this. Any ideas?

The mod I use will do this but it is not free. Here's a quote from the section that would assist you.

Geolocation

If geolocation support has been created for the country the store's shipping address is in (AU, UK or US), specific shipping rates can be set up for customers whose addresses are within a certain distance of the store's shipping address.

Configuring a region for geolocation is simple. The only option to be configured is the value for the Distance From Store. This will be in Km or Miles depending upon the national unit for the country the store's shipping address is in. (For the UK and the US this is miles, for Australia this is Km).

The guy who released this mod spends many hours supporting other free mods he has released via these forums so I am happy to recommend him. If you would like further details PM me as I can't link to commercial software via the forum.

I use the Zip ship mod.

you can add more than the 3 default zones and you can add multiple zip codes for each.
From a spreadsheet, you will have to format with delimiters (commas between zip codes) so you can paste into the text area.
Not sure about your UK code formats though.
