virgin install
website brooklynn.ky

zen is at -->shop.brooklynn.ky
Program installed flawlessly but when I use the cname to go to site it returns forbidden '/' which looks like a permissions issue

*if I type the complete path- shop.brooklynn.ky/index.php it goes to start page but the home links within the site end up at forbidden
Perhaps the cname to A record has not propagated?
and *logging into 'admin area' has been returned forbidden as well

Are the permissions on your 'shop' dir. set to 755?

Normally, when things are working correctly, using 'shop.brooklynn.ky' or 'brooklynn.ky/shop/' will work. Create another sub-dir. with just an 'index.htm' file and see what happens. If problem persists then contact your Hoster as this is not a Zen Cart issue.

Thx Rob,
I created an .htaccess with a directory index and placed it in the 'shop' root and that solved the forbidden '/' problem
and second I had an file placement error for the admin config where the file was duplicated in the root file rather than just in the admin/includes location.

When a customer types the address 'shop.brooklynn.ky' it should default to the index file?

That is correct.

for whatever reason, it wasn't doing that.
Therefore I installed a .htaccess directive
with 'DirectoryIndex' pointing to the appropriate file for the driectories in question.
working fine now.
