Default No index.php found in home link

Hi Everyone and let me say thanks in advance. I have been scouring the posts (I've literally read about 300) and can't find my same problem.

I had a site set up and it was hacked so I needed to start fresh.
I want the store to remain in a subdirectory and not in my root.

my store is installed on graphxfairy.com/gf

All of my home links lead to http://www.graphxfairy.com/gf and report that no index.php is found

I am at a total loss.

Thanks so much for any help.

If there is no index.php file in that folder, then the error messages are correct.

Thanks for the fast reply. That's the problem... the file does exist.

Okay, so it's important to look at the exact error message.

    Note the differences here:
http://www.graphxfairy.com/gf/ gives you "/index.php does not exist"
    but
    http://www.graphxfairy.com/gf/index.php gives you your store.

So, you've got something in your /gf/ folder (either a .htaccess rule or a redirect in an index.html file) that's redirecting the browser to /index.php (not /gf/index.php) when no specific filename is mentioned.

I suspect a rogue .htaccess rule.
