How to make newer products appear first?

When i add a new product to my home page it appears after the old products. How do i give new products priority over old products so that the newest items will display first on the main page?
What i am trying to say is... how do i make my products appear by date added so that the latest will always be the one on the main page?

Check your setting in admin>configuration>Maximum Values>New Product Listing - Limited to ...


Limit the New Product Listing to
0= All Products
1= Current Month
7= 7 Days
14= 14 Days
30= 30 Days
60= 60 Days
90= 90 Days
120= 120 Days

It didnt work. I tried that and uploaded an image it didnt display on the main page it went to page 5 which is the last page i have for that category

someone please help... my new products are not displaying first.
I have 5 pages for each category. And every time i upload a new product it goes to the last page. I want it to display on the first page. I want newer products to display first. Please help

Ok your second post makes it clearer, i would have posted the same as AFO based on your fist post

1) It isn't possible to do what you want on the products in the category pages, which is what i think you want, thats what new products is for
2) There is a Hack that will do it read this post
